Michigan held its primary on August 4, 2026, and Army captain Mike Bouchard Jr. — son of the Oakland County sheriff — beat Justin Kirk and Steffan Demetropoulos for the Republican nomination, while former prosecutor Christina Hines won the Democratic primary. Green Party candidate Kwabena Nkromo, Libertarian Mike Saliba and Working Class Party candidate Andrea Kirby are also on the ballot.
