By Ballot Explained

    • Campaign websites for territory candidates

Campaign sites or official pages for the candidates for governor and delegate in Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa, where one exists.

    • Ballots leave off local offices that aren't up this year

Some states elect certain local offices in other years — Pennsylvania's county offices, Michigan's and Florida's sheriffs, Kansas school boards and others. Those no longer appear on 2026 ballots in those states.

    • How to vote in every state

A page for each state and DC: registration deadlines, early voting dates, mail ballot rules, ID at the polls, and when results come in. Every fact links to the state election office or the law it comes from.

    • Voting deadlines in one table

Registration, same-day registration, early voting, mail ballot deadlines and poll closing times for all 50 states and DC, side by side.

    • U.S. territories

Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa vote on November 3 too: governor races and the delegate each sends to the U.S. House, with how each territory decides a winner.

    • Nominees from the September primaries

Delaware, New Hampshire and Rhode Island held their primaries in September. Their U.S. Senate races, and the New Hampshire and Rhode Island governor races, now show the general election candidates.

    • Florida governor: all eight candidates

The Florida governor page now lists every candidate on the state's official list, including those with no party affiliation.

    • Maryland, down to the county

Every Maryland State Senate and House of Delegates district, and county executive, council, commissioner, sheriff, state's attorney, circuit court clerk and school board races in every county.

    • Address lookup finds more streets

Some newer streets are missing from the Census address file. The lookup now places them, and tells you what to try when an address still can't be found.

    • CorrectionRhode Island housing bond

The page gave the wrong figure for a 2016 housing bond — the $27 million it named was a different question. The 2016 housing bond was $50 million. The page now also quotes supporters and critics, each sourced.

    • Every research page is dated

Race and measure pages now say when they were last reviewed, and link to how the research is done and how to report a correction.

    • CorrectionVirginia's 10th District

A candidate wrote in about a debate. Our page said he had not been included; he had been announced and later removed. The page now says exactly that, with sources for both.

    • Appellate judges in every state

State supreme court and appeals court contests for all 50 states and DC — including the states where voters only decide whether a judge keeps the seat, and the ones with nothing on the ballot this year.
