2026 general election
What’s on the ballot in the U.S. Virgin Islands
Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The governor and the delegate to Congress are elected territory-wide, so every voter in the U.S. Virgin Islands chooses between the same candidates. Party nominees were chosen in the August 1 primary. Independent candidates qualify by petition. Ballot order is set by casting lots.

The delegate represents U.S. Virgin Islands in the U.S. House of Representatives for a two-year term. A delegate can introduce bills and vote in committee, but cannot cast a final vote on the House floor.
How the winner is decided
- Governor and lieutenant governor are elected together as one ticket, and the ticket needs a majority of the votes cast. If no ticket gets one, the top two meet in a runoff on Tuesday, November 17.Elections System of the Virgin Islands — 2026 Election Events Calendar
