Massachusetts held its state primary on September 1, 2026. Democratic incumbent Jim McGovern is the only candidate listed for November: he was unopposed in the Democratic primary, winning 99.6%, no Republican filed, and no independent candidate appears in Ballotpedia's general election listing. The Secretary of the Commonwealth's candidate list could not be read directly, so an unenrolled candidate who qualified late would not show up here. The district covers central Massachusetts — Worcester and surrounding towns — plus parts of the Pioneer Valley. McGovern has held the seat since 1997; in 2024 he beat unenrolled candidate Cornelius Shea.
